I will paste all instances of the word Parousia in the Greek text here. This will clearly show that the word Parousia mostly is translated with coming and that is how it shall be, you can see the two places where the translators have understood that it shall be presence instead of coming and it is due to the context.<\/p>\n

After reading\u00a0 these you could in some instances change the word coming to presence. The problem is you will lose the significance of Jesus great arrival if you in all places change it to presence.<\/p>\n

The word Parousia has both the word coming and presence in it but we have to understand that when a prominent king came to his country to take it into possession he after coming of course is present that is obvious.<\/p>\n

There is some places where the text shows to signify the presence of an individual in this case the Apostle Paul.\u00a0<\/p>\n

the physical “presence” of Paul himself\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n

Wherefore, my beloved, as ye have always obeyed, not as in my presence (par-oo-see’-ah) only, but now much more in my absence, 2 cor 10;10<\/p>\n

For\u00a0his<\/i>\u00a0letters, say they,\u00a0are<\/i>\u00a0weighty and powerful; but\u00a0his<\/i> bodily presence (par-oo-see’-ah) is<\/i>\u00a0weak, and\u00a0his<\/i> speech contemptible. Fil 2;12<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

Continuing with all instances of Parousia translated with coming!<\/p>\n

And as he sat upon the mount of Olives, the disciples came unto him privately, saying, Tell us, when shall these things be? and what\u00a0shall be<\/em>\u00a0the sign of thy coming<\/strong>, and of the end of the world?<\/p>\n

1 Cor 15:23;
But every man in his own order: Christ the first-fruits; afterward they that are Christ’s at his coming.<\/strong><\/p>\n

1 Thess 2:19;
Are<\/i>\u00a0not even ye in the presence
<\/strong>( em’-pros-then)<\/p>\n

From G1722 and G4314; in front of (in place [literally or figuratively] or time): – against, at, before, (in presence, sight).<\/p>\n

of our Lord Jesus Christ at his coming? <\/strong>(par-oo-see’-ah).\u00a0<\/p>\n

2 Thess 2:8;
And then shall that Wicked be revealed, whom the Lord shall consume with the spirit of his mouth, and shall destroy with the brightness of his coming <\/strong>(par-oo-see’-ah)<\/p>\n

2 Pet 3:4;
And saying, Where is the promise of his coming?<\/strong> (par-oo-see’-ah)<\/p>\n

1 John 2:28);
And now, little children, abide in him; that, when he shall appear, we may have confidence, and not be ashamed before him at his coming<\/strong>. (par-oo-see’-ah)<\/p>\n

the Son of Man (Matt 24:27, 37, 39);
For as the lightning cometh out of the east, and shineth even unto the west; so shall also the coming<\/strong> of the Son of man be.<\/p>\n

But as the days of Noe\u00a0were<\/i>, so shall also the coming<\/strong> of the Son of man be.<\/p>\n

And knew not until the flood came, and took them all away; so shall also the coming<\/strong> of the Son of man\u00a0<\/p>\n

the Lord (1 Thess 3:13; 4:15; 5:23; 2 Thess 2:1; James 5:7-8; 2 Pet 1:16);<\/p>\n

To the end he may stablish your hearts unblameable in holiness before God, even our Father, at the coming<\/strong> of our Lord Jesus Christ with all his saints.<\/p>\n

For this we say unto you by the word of the Lord, that we which are alive\u00a0and<\/i> 1 remain unto the coming<\/strong> of the Lord shall not prevent them which are asleep<\/p>\n

And the very God of peace sanctify you wholly; and\u00a0I pray God<\/i>\u00a0your whole spirit and soul and body be preserved blameless unto the coming<\/strong> of our Lord Jesus Christ.<\/p>\n

Now we beseech you, brethren, by the coming<\/strong> of our Lord Jesus Christ, and\u00a0by<\/i>\u00a0our gathering together unto him<\/p>\n

Be patient therefore, brethren, unto the coming<\/strong> of the Lord. Behold, the husbandman waiteth for the precious fruit of the earth, and hath long patience for it, until he receive the early and latter rain.\u00a0Be ye also patient; stablish your hearts: for the coming<\/strong> of the Lord draweth nigh.<\/p>\n

For we have not followed cunningly devised fables, when we made known unto you the power and coming of our<\/strong> Lord Jesus Christ, but were eyewitnesses of his majesty.<\/p>\n

the day of God (2 Pet 3:12).
Looking for and hasting unto the coming<\/strong> of the day of God, wherein the heavens being on fire shall be dissolved, and the elements shall melt with fervent heat?<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

So from this we can see that the original meaning of the word Parousia is coming and that it also includes presence. From the two scriptures where the Apostle Paul’s presence where refereed to we can see that it is a distinction between the word presence and the word coming.<\/p>\n
